A donor bike will provide the following:

As you can see there is still lots of bike left so we recommend that you buy a decent R1, remove the parts that you need and sell all your leftover parts on Ebay as we know from both our own experience and that of our customers that you recover most of the cost of the donor bike from the sale of the parts that you don't use in building your tR1ke. If you pick your donor bike carefully you could even end up in profit and your tR1ke parts being cost neutral.
